TODAY IS THE DAY! I am thrilled to share this song with y’all!
“Christ Be Known” is a worship song inspired by a famous prayer written by St. Patrick. I wrote it four years ago on St. Patrick’s Day, and earlier this year, I decided it was time to record it. I waited to release it on St. Patrick’s Day to honor his memory. What a legacy he left of creating prayerful and thought-provoking meditations that we still use today!
This prayer is important to me because it helps ground me. It helps me remember the gift of being hidden in Christ and how meaningful it is when others see His character and goodness flow through us as we go through our lives! I hope it inspires you to worship and adore the One who is before and over all things – the One who holds all things together.
Deciding on a cover photo was difficult this time around. I wrestled with making it super “Irish” looking, but I didn’t want to limit the song’s resonance. I decided to use a snap that a friend of mine (Michael Dolan) took on our recent trip to Guatemala. The picture captures the moment we said goodbye to some dear new friends in the village of Canoguitas – a place we hope and plan to visit many times over. I took Michael’s picture and handed it over to my friend Tim Columbia and he gave it this beautiful artistic vibe that zooms in on the hands and the faces of the precious kids, who have a lot they can teach us about loving Jesus. I am inspired by their kindness and generosity, though they have very little to offer. They were all in, and they were unashamed. It felt right to highlight this moment and make it the cover for this song.
May “Christ Be Known” draw you into worship. May it inspire you to let Him shape and mold your heart to look like His. May His name be known in all we say and do. May we treat each other with the kindness and presentness of Jesus. May Christ be known in every eye that sees *us*.
